Location: Uretiti beach in Bream Bay just north of Waipu & south of Whangerei (North Island)
Uretiti beach is probably one of the longest established nude beaches in New Zealand. Located right next to a large DOC campsite (which used be half nudist but ISN'T anymore) it has a long surf beach with fine golden sand backed by dunes. People in togs tend to turn left (north) out of the campsite and nudists tend to go to the right. If you have a 4x4 you can access the beach from Tipp road at the Waipu end. Nudists use the beach through the warmer months but especially aaround Xmas & New Year.

We stayed at Uretiti last year for the first time, it was absolutely wonderful! The sand is so soft and there was plenty of nudists there which made us feel very comfortable. We made friends with quite a few people at the campsite aswell that were non nudists but they had no problem with our naked lifestyle whatsoever. Our kids played very happily all day everyday and my boyfriend was really pleased becuase he got to do some nightime surfcasting :)

Having been a naturist for over 40 years, we have watched Uretiti Beach change over the years. The Doc Staff used to be very helpful for naturists and access to the beach was until the last couple of years quite easy. Now that the cvamp has restricted access, it is often easier to enter the beach at the Waipu Tip road end. You can drive a 4WD onto the beach and travell a short distance north towards the Doc Camp and you will soon get to the point where other naturists congregate. Dont try it with a 2 wheel drive though!

It's a fantastic nudist beach, we've been going there for years! Most of the year it's quite empty but come Xmas & New Year it gets busy with lots of nudists male/female/young/old. The best nudist beach close to Auckland in our opinion.

We spent New year at Uretiti beach and had a great time. Building sand castles, chatting, sunbathing, swimming and making friends. Very relaxed atmosphere, plenty of nudists all along the nude part of the beach (head right if walking from the DOC campsite). We can't wait to get back there! :)

One of the best nudist beaches in Northland, and we keep going back. The DOC camp is cheap and friendly. The beach is beautiful with great fishing and clean white sand. Busy Xmas and New Years but still a great place.
Many many good times on this beach. The water is clean and warm, and body surfing nude is an exhilarating and enjoyable experience. This is a wonderful place for those who like to claim their spot, leave their clothes, and take a long walk along the shoreline. Textiles do wander through, but nobody bothers you. There are also woods I've explored naked behind the beach. Great experience.
This is one of my favourite places to go and chill out, it's a fantastic long stretch of golden sand with fantastic swimming (no oyster shells to cut your foot on or any hazards whatsoever). It's so relaxing I go there every summer to welcome in the New Year. I would recommend anyone to go enjoy it, love it:)

A recent article in the New Zealand Herald informs us of some unsavoury possibly illegal behaviour exhibit by a few men at Uretiti this Xmas. You can read the article here (copy and paste into the address bar):
Lets Get Naked had our Uretiti beach event here on the 10th March (postponed from the 3rd due to bad weather). Sand sculpture, bodypainting and a shared picnic lunch were all on the agenda, great fun was had by ALL who attended! Check out our write up on the event HERE!
